So i decided to go boost! even tho all motor i havent done to bad which just bolt ons and no tune yet i still have wonders to do all motor but then again for that amount of spending money i can go for turbo which roughly put me at about 340whp on stock internals and 8psi of boost so not to bad but then agian alot of maintenance and for supercharger i would go for 300whp tuned yet not much maintenance as turbo which routh would yall go if u were to be in my situation?:racecar:

just the maintenance on it would have to be a daily thing or check up on things all the time

its different when the car comes out the factory turboed alredy and when the car isnt truboed there could be some issues at times

I dont get where your getting this turbo has more up keep stuff from. Do it right the first time do it only one time. Will it cost money yes. Will it cost more if you cheap out and get shitty parts yes in the long run it will. And more headaches. You can turbo a stock car and do it right and be fine. Just regular maintence (sp) as if it were still stock. Just use differnt spark plugs stuff that should be changed when you turbo it. Different heat range. Get good quality parts. I didnt say big name parts just quality. I am sure your not going to be the first person to turbo a fg2 so search for other set ups and see the cons and pros and which parts are better for your application. O yeah and turbo. Why would you even consider a supercharger. I would rather spray a 4 cylinder than s/c it. Even gm knows that. Look at the pos s/c ion redline and cobalts. Gm changed to a turbo set up for a reason lmao.

the only real differences in maintenence would be that you would need to let the car idle for at least 30 seconds to a minute before you shut it off to let the hot oil from the turbo return to the pan and cooler oil recirculate back to the turbo, this is what they make turbo timers for. you might also want to consider changing your oil more often (i change mine every 2500-3000 just to stay safe. i probably dont need to, but why not?) and changing to a different oil, depending on what you run now.

other than that, there really isnt much of a maintenence difference in turbo/non-turbo cars. but cooling is life or death for a turbocharger, and must never be forgotten.

Most hondas run 5w30 oil. In all my turbo hondas I have owned I always ran 5w30 full synthetic castrol oil. And also always ran ngk plugs and never had a issue. If you dont want a turbo timer or wait for it to cool off buy a water cooled/oil cooled turbo. This is why all stock cars come from factory with water cooled turbos. People that buy thme dont want to have to wait in there car for the turbo to cool and just shut them off. Water cooled will eliminate cool down time. If I was water cooled I would still let it cool down before I shut if off but thats just me.

x2, why not? especially if there is a chance it's going to prolong the life of the turbo. water cooled doesnt 100% eliminate cool down time, but with oil advanced as it is plus water cooled, you're right, there is almost no use to let them cool.

but a lot of aftermarket kits arent water cooled...

Well if he does it right and gets a ball bearing turbo it will be water cooled lol. I have learned from my own mistakes. To the op do not cheap out on parts. If you dont buy a "complete kit" Then piece one together with quality parts. I recommend Garrett tial and greddy. Been around a long time and are very reputable. Good luck. Its true once you go boost you will never go back. And Always leave room for improvement on the parts/turbo. Do a lot of research on turbo systems and how they work if you plan on doing i yourself. There is a really good book about turbo systems just cant think of the name. If not just pay a reputable shop to build/install it for you and have fun.

thanks aot i reall have learned alot yo! there is fgs alredy turboed but seen none that have intrest me in number as for comtech stage 2 sc made just about the same numbers form just changing the pulley size

Dyno numbers really dont mean much. A dyno is a tuning tool. Shit I made 215whp on a dyno and you seen my car run.

yeah is quick yet alot lighter as well well im just waiting on my ecu to come in

-Greg-

Lighter? How do you figure at full weight whcich it is it weighed 2750 add my fat ass in there and its at about 3k. You car weighs 2850 so thats just 100 lbs more. Not that big of a difference

i dont like ball bearing turbo's personally. journals arent bad turbo's and there is a better chance you will have to replace a BB sooner than a journal.
