A friend needs help choosing a car

Like the title says his choices are between three cars.
1.SRT-4 Caliber 2.Cobalt SS 3.mazda speed3 lets talk about the pros & cons of these cars.....

id say non of em but if i had 2 choose one id say srt4 is tha best bang 4 ur buck outa all 3
all tha colbalt ss cars that hav tried 2 race me hav been a jok n dont knw much bought mazda speed 3 but my buddy had an srt4 n it was pretty quick

I would go with an SRT4 Neon. They are very decent priced now 10-12k range and can be pretty quick for under 1,000$ of mods.

I loved mine just be prepared for a clutch if its a stocker and you plan on making anything in the 300whp range.

Then again I would buy a foxbody mustang and make it fast :) Also LS1's are becoming cheaper and cheaper as well!

go with the mazda the caliber srt4 is a pig too heavy. cobalts are too incosistant on theyr feul managment from the factory. but the mazda3 id s good car i say with aroun1500 invested it will throw you into low 13 high 12 depending on drivers and they are great sleepers.

i kno cobalts ss have a bad reputation on how slow they are out on the street but with these turbocharged ones finally gettin rollin its goin to be nasty. ive ran so many srt4's neons and calibers and mazdaS3 and mustangs(especially,lol) and whooped on all these with just a tune that ran me $250. with just this tune ive kept up w/ full bolt on ls1's. the car comes wit like 240hp 240tq stock to the wheels and the tune put me at 290hp 330tq to the wheels and i kno there better tunes out there that can put u a 300hp. but at the end its up to your preference. peace!!!!!!!

Kinda depends on what he wants to do with it. I like my ms3 alot but would not pick it to make big power. The aftermarket is pretty weak for them and parts are kind of pricy. The least expensive sri is $180 and a cai is over $200. An upgraded intercooler(my next option) is 600 for a tmic and 1000+ for a front mount. There are a few ms3s that have popped already trying to get 350+ hp on stock internals, and there still arent alot of tuning options (cobb ap $700 and is base maps for your mods and fuel, not a custom tune - CP-E standback + plug n play harnass is 1000 but gives more tuning options) but with the cobb ap a protuner (plano Tx.) can dial it in. The least expensive downpipe/racepipe option is corksport @ 450, stainless works has a catted dp for 550. Assuming you are buying new, the ms3 will run you:
21k or 24k for the GT
$200 intake
$150 rear motor mount (a must have)
$165+ bpv/bov that doesn't leak
$450+ downpipe/midpipe
And thats basic boltons, thats where Im at minus the downpipe. Add to that:
$1000 for a FMIC (heatsoak is a bitch with this car)
$700 for a Cobb AP
and you're just under 3k under the hood. I know thats not alot to spend under a hood, but I think with other platforms your 3k will get you more.
I think the MS3 is a great looking car, it handles well and has a badass interior. It is pretty quick stock and can suprise alot of other cars out there, cars that cost much more. If I wanted 400+ hp I would have picked up a GTO or something similar, the ms3 is no racecar.

well in one of the forums they have one at 450 wit stock block n internals, i havent heard of anyone breakin them over too much power yet. they have swapped turbo, ic, intake, dp, charge pipe, exhaust, and that housin where the turbo sits.

it really doesnt take much to make decent power out of it.

inj and fuel pump u can see 400-500whp on pump gas
